In 2021, the Russian polyamide market decreased by -8.1% to $X, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. After two years of decline, shipments abroad of polyamides (in primary forms) increased by 22% to X tons in 2021. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 31% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, polyamide exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The exports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
India (X tons), China (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main destinations of polyamide exports from Russia, with a combined 69% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Turkey, the Netherlands, Italy, Belarus and Israel, which together accounted for a further 25%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +43.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for polyamide exported from Russia were India ($X), China ($X) and Germany ($X), together comprising 65% of total exports. These countries were followed by Turkey, the Netherlands, Italy, Belarus and Israel, which together accounted for a further 28%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, the Netherlands, with a CAGR of +39.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average polyamide export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 56% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a noticeable contraction. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were the Netherlands ($X per ton) and Italy ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($X per ton) and India ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

Imports into the Russian Federation
In 2021, the amount of polyamides (in primary forms) imported into Russia soared to X tons, growing by 21% on the previous year. Overall, total imports indicated pronounced growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +87.3% against 2015 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, polyamide imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a slight increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Belarus (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Spain (X tons) were the main suppliers of polyamide imports to Russia, together accounting for 64% of total imports. Finland, Italy, Poland, China, France, South Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan (Chinese), the United States and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 30%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Finland (with a CAGR of +47.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest polyamide suppliers to Russia were Belarus ($X), Germany ($X) and Spain ($X), together accounting for 59% of total imports. These countries were followed by France, Italy, China, Switzerland, Finland, the United States, South Korea, Poland, Taiwan (Chinese) and the Netherlands, which together accounted for a further 32%.
Finland, with a CAGR of +40.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average polyamide import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 26% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the price for Finland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+10.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
