The third position in this ranking was taken by Belarus (X tons), with a 7.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Ukraine totaled +245.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Azerbaijan (+2.4% per year) and Belarus (+53.5% per year).

In value terms, Ukraine ($X) remains the key foreign market for potato exports from Russia, comprising 61% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belarus ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by Azerbaijan, with an 11% share.

In 2021, Egypt (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of potato to Russia, with a 52% share of total imports. In value terms, Egypt ($X) constituted the largest supplier of potato to Russia, comprising 49% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Azerbaijan ($X), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by Pakistan, with an 8.1% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Egypt amounted to +14.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Azerbaijan (+6.2% per year) and Pakistan (+11.4% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average potato import price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 2.4% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the average import price increased by 16% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the price for Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (+11.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
