Kazakhstan (X tons), Belarus (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons) were the main destinations of sauce and seasoning exports from Russia, with a combined 57% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Belarus (with a CAGR of +20.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X), Belarus ($X) and Uzbekistan ($X) constituted the largest markets for sauce and seasoning exported from Russia worldwide, with a combined 57% share of total exports.
Among the main countries of destination, Belarus, with a CAGR of +16.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average sauce and seasoning export price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkmenistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into the Russian Federation
In 2021, the amount of sauces and seasonings imported into Russia totaled X tons, picking up by 7.1% against 2020 figures. In general, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 76% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, sauce and seasoning imports rose notably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a noticeable increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +20.9% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 111%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

China (X tons), South Korea (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) were the main suppliers of sauce and seasoning imports to Russia, together comprising 38% of total imports. These countries were followed by Italy, Austria, Vietnam, Germany, Thailand, Poland, Belarus, Estonia, the UK and Sweden, which together accounted for a further 48%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Belarus (with a CAGR of +31.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Austria ($X), Germany ($X) and South Korea ($X) were the largest sauce and seasoning suppliers to Russia, with a combined 38% share of total imports. These countries were followed by China, Italy, the Netherlands, Thailand, Poland, Estonia, Sweden, the UK, Vietnam and Belarus, which together accounted for a further 47%.
Belarus, with a CAGR of +34.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average sauce and seasoning import price amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 3.3% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.9%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average import price increased by 20% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per ton), while the price for Vietnam ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
