China (X units), Uzbekistan (X units) and Kazakhstan (X units) were the main destinations of radar apparatus exports from Russia, with a combined 57% share of total exports.

Imports into the Russian Federation
After two years of growth, supplies from abroad of radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus and radio remote control apparatus decreased by -11.5% to X units in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a mild contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 77% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, radar apparatus imports declined to $X in 2022. In general, imports showed a noticeable contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 63%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest radar apparatus supplier to Russia, accounting for a 42% share of total imports. Moreover, radar apparatus imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Japan (X units), fourfold. The Czech Republic (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 7.9% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China stood at -7.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Japan (+10.8% per year) and the Czech Republic (+29.8% per year).
In value terms, China ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and Hungary ($X) constituted the largest radar apparatus suppliers to Russia, with a combined 29% share of total imports. Japan, Mexico, Germany, Vietnam, Italy, Romania, Belarus, South Korea, Indonesia and Lithuania lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 36%.
In terms of the main suppliers, Romania, with a CAGR of +55.4%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average radar apparatus import price stood at $X per unit in 2022, shrinking by -1.8% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 37%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2020 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+13.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
