Reclaimed rubber exports from Russia surged to X tons in 2021, increasing by 23% on the previous year. Overall, exports continue to indicate prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 45% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, reclaimed rubber exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports continue to indicate a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 104% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Poland (X tons), Slovakia (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) were the main destinations of reclaimed rubber exports from Russia, with a combined 77% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Belarus (with a CAGR of +94.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 62% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Romania ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Serbia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, the amount of reclaimed rubber imported into Russia reached X tons, flattening at 2020 figures. Overall, imports posted a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 146% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

In value terms, reclaimed rubber imports expanded markedly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a tangible increase. In 2021, Belarus (X tons) constituted the largest reclaimed rubber supplier to Russia, accounting for a 73% share of total imports. Moreover, reclaimed rubber imports from Belarus exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, India (X tons), sevenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by China (X tons), with an 8.4% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Belarus stood at +22.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (-4.8% per year) and China (+219.6% per year).

In value terms, Belarus ($X), India ($X) and the Netherlands ($X) were the largest reclaimed rubber suppliers to Russia, with a combined 79% share of total imports. These countries were followed by China and Ukraine, which together accounted for a further 13%.

In terms of the main suppliers, China, with a CAGR of +221.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average reclaimed rubber import price amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 12% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a abrupt decrease. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the price for Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+5.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
