Seeder And Planter Market Size in the Russian Federation

For the fourth year in a row, the Russian seeder and planter market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by 4.4% to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, consumption, however, recorded a drastic downturn. Kazakhstan (X units) was the main destination for seeder and planter exports from Russia, accounting for a 86% share of total exports. In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) remains the key foreign market for seeders, planters, transplanters exports from Russia, comprising 80% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Ukraine ($X), with a 6.4% share of total exports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 4% share.

From 2012 to 2016, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Kazakhstan totaled +29.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Ukraine (+25.4% per year) and Belarus (-23.9% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average seeder and planter export price stood at $X per unit in 2016, shrinking by -18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price faced a drastic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 29% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2016, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Mongolia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2016, purchases abroad of seeders, planters, transplanters was finally on the rise to reach X units for the first time since 2013, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, recorded a pronounced setback. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2016, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, seeder and planter imports surged to $X in 2016. Overall, imports, however, recorded a abrupt contraction. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2016, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Ukraine (X units), Germany (X units) and the United States (X units) were the main suppliers of seeder and planter imports to Russia, with a combined 58% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Canada, Italy, France, Belarus, Sweden, China, Argentina and Poland, which together accounted for a further 39%.

From 2012 to 2016, the biggest increases were recorded for France (with a CAGR of +24.1%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest seeder and planter suppliers to Russia were Germany ($X), the United States ($X) and Ukraine ($X), together comprising 55% of total imports. Canada, Italy, France, Sweden, Argentina, Belarus, China and Poland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 42%.

France, with a CAGR of +14.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average seeder and planter import price stood at $X per unit in 2016, increasing by 7.3% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a deep setback. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2016, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2016, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
