Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 20% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, soap in different forms imports expanded significantly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a mild downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 18%. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Turkey (X tons), Finland (X tons) and Sweden (X tons) were the main suppliers of soap in different forms imports to Russia, together accounting for 55% of total imports. The average soap in different forms import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 19% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a mild contraction. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the price for Finland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
