Exports from the Russian Federation

After three years of growth, shipments abroad of surgical gloves decreased by -14.3% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 118% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, surgical glove exports fell to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 157%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.

Exports by Country

Belarus (X tons), Ukraine (X tons) and Kazakhstan (X tons) were the main destinations of surgical glove exports from Russia, together accounting for 93% of total exports. These countries were followed by Armenia and Tajikistan, which together accounted for a further 5.9%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Armenia (with a CAGR of +84.5%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for surgical glove exported from Russia were Belarus ($X), Ukraine ($X) and Kazakhstan ($X), together comprising 97% of total exports. Armenia and Tajikistan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 2.3%.

Armenia, with a CAGR of +91.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average surgical glove export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, leveling off at the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a strong expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the average export price increased by 52%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then dropped slightly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Tajikistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Uzbekistan (+5.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Russian Federation

In 2022, approx. X tons of surgical gloves were imported into Russia; rising by 27% against 2021 figures. Overall, imports, however, recorded a slight curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 39% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, surgical glove imports reached $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a pronounced slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 52%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Malaysia (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Austria (X tons) were the main suppliers of surgical glove imports to Russia, with a combined 77% share of total imports. China, India, Thailand and Sri Lanka lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 23%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by India (with a CAGR of +15.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest surgical glove suppliers to Russia were Malaysia ($X), Germany ($X) and Austria ($X), with a combined 74% share of total imports. China, India, Thailand and Sri Lanka lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 26%.

India, with a CAGR of +23.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

Import Prices by Country

The average surgical glove import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, falling by -9.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a slight setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 19%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Sri Lanka ($X per ton), while the price for Germany ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
