These countries were followed by Tajikistan, China, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine and Armenia, which together accounted for a further 39%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by China (with a CAGR of +86.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X), Belarus ($X) and Kyrgyzstan ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for sweet biscuit, waffle and wafer exported from Russia worldwide, with a combined 51% share of total exports. These countries were followed by China, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Armenia, Georgia and Ukraine, which together accounted for a further 40%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, China, with a CAGR of +89.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for sweet biscuits, waffles and wafers stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 12% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a pronounced downturn. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Tajikistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+1.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into the Russian Federation
In 2021, imports of sweet biscuits, waffles and wafers into Russia soared to X tons, rising by 18% on the year before. In general, imports, however, showed a noticeable contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, sweet biscuit, waffle and wafer imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable decline. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Poland (X tons), Kazakhstan (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) were the main suppliers of sweet biscuit, waffle and wafer imports to Russia, together comprising 53% of total imports. Italy, China, Bulgaria, Turkey, Germany, Spain, the Czech Republic, the UK, South Korea and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 37%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the Czech Republic (with a CAGR of +109.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Poland ($X) constituted the largest supplier of sweet biscuits, waffles and wafers to Russia, comprising 26% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Bulgaria, with a 7.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Poland amounted to +10.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kazakhstan (+21.3% per year) and Bulgaria (+45.7% per year).
