Exports from the Russian Federation
After six years of growth, shipments abroad of table, kitchen or household articles and parts of iron decreased by -16.5% to X tons in 2021. Overall, exports, however, recorded prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 39% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2020, and then fell rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, iron household articles exports soared to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, saw a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 36% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Kazakhstan (X tons) was the main destination for iron household articles exports from Russia, with a 60% share of total exports. Moreover, iron household articles exports to Kazakhstan exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Belarus (X tons), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Ukraine (X tons), with a 7.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Kazakhstan totaled +7.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belarus (+21.5% per year) and Ukraine (+26.4% per year).
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) remains the key foreign market for table, kitchen or household articles and parts of iron exports from Russia, comprising 55% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belarus ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by Ukraine, with an 8.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Kazakhstan amounted to +5.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belarus (+20.9% per year) and Ukraine (+17.2% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average iron household articles export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 38% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkmenistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Uzbekistan (+6.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Russian Federation
In 2021, approx. X tons of table, kitchen or household articles and parts of iron were imported into Russia; picking up by 8.8% compared with 2020 figures. Overall, imports, however, recorded a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 17%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, iron household articles imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a perceptible setback. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest iron household articles supplier to Russia, accounting for a 73% share of total imports. Moreover, iron household articles imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Belarus (X tons), fivefold. Italy (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 3.9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China stood at -3.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belarus (+44.5% per year) and Italy (-13.6% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of table, kitchen or household articles and parts of iron to Russia, comprising 76% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belarus ($X), with a 6.4% share of total imports. It was followed by Italy, with a 5.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from China was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belarus (+33.7% per year) and Italy (-9.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average iron household articles import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 16% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while the price for Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
