In general, total exports indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports decreased by -4.9% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 35% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, rubber tube and pipe exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Kazakhstan (X tons) was the main destination for rubber tube and pipe exports from Russia, accounting for a 41% share of total exports. Moreover, rubber tube and pipe exports to Kazakhstan exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Belarus (X tons), twofold. Ukraine (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 10% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Kazakhstan stood at +6.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belarus (+1.9% per year) and Ukraine (-7.4% per year).
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) remains the key foreign market for tubes, pipes and hoses of vulcanized rubber exports from Russia, comprising 37% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by Ukraine, with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Kazakhstan stood at +4.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belarus (-1.4% per year) and Ukraine (-6.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average rubber tube and pipe export price amounted to $X per ton, growing by 8.5% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a noticeable slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 28%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Azerbaijan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kyrgyzstan (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Russian Federation
In 2021, approx. X tons of tubes, pipes and hoses of vulcanized rubber were imported into Russia; increasing by 19% on the year before. In general, total imports indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +84.9% against 2015 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 31%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, rubber tube and pipe imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest rubber tube and pipe supplier to Russia, accounting for a 50% share of total imports. Moreover, rubber tube and pipe imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (X tons), sevenfold. Belarus (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 6.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China totaled +2.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (+3.1% per year) and Belarus (+4.0% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of tubes, pipes and hoses of vulcanized rubber to Russia, comprising 25% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with an 8.8% share of total imports. It was followed by Italy, with an 8.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China totaled +7.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+2.1% per year) and Italy (+5.5% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average rubber tube and pipe import price amounted to $X per ton, growing by 17% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.5%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 23% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while the price for Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
