Tufted Carpet Market Size in the Russian Federation

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -14.4% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 47% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X square meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, tufted carpet imports contracted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a pronounced reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 50%. Imports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, Belarus (X square meters) constituted the largest supplier of tufted carpet to Russia, with a 50% share of total imports. Moreover, tufted carpet imports from Belarus exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X square meters), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Belgium (X square meters), with a 5.6% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Belarus totaled +18.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+10.0% per year) and Belgium (-7.6% per year).

In value terms, the largest tufted carpet suppliers to Russia were China ($X), Belarus ($X) and Belgium ($X), with a combined 55% share of total imports. The Netherlands, Turkey, India, Uzbekistan, Serbia and Egypt lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 23%.

Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +82.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 10% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per square meter in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per square meter), while the price for Belarus ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
