In value terms, Kyrgyzstan ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for twine, cordage, rope and cables exports from Russia, comprising 48% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with an 11% share.

In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 30% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, twine and cordage imports reduced to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a noticeable expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 24%. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.
Imports by Country
South Korea (X tons), Bangladesh (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) were the main suppliers of twine and cordage imports to Russia, with a combined 55% share of total imports. China, Portugal, India, Poland, Hungary, Turkey, the Czech Republic, Germany and Finland lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 43%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Portugal (with a CAGR of +34.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest twine and cordage suppliers to Russia were South Korea ($X), China ($X) and Belarus ($X), together comprising 50% of total imports.
