The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the production volume increased by 27% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production of reached the peak level at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.

Exports from the Russian Federation
Exports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages from Russia dropped to X litres in 2022, which is down by -4.6% on 2021. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 11%. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the maximum at X litres in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, exports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages shrank to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a perceptible curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 17%. The exports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
The UK (X litres), Kazakhstan (X litres) and Latvia (X litres) were the main destinations of exports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages from Russia, together comprising 50% of total exports. These countries were followed by Ukraine, Germany, the United States, Lithuania, Austria, Georgia, Bulgaria, Armenia and Canada, which together accounted for a further 36%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Austria (with a CAGR of +22.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages exported from Russia were Latvia ($X), the UK ($X) and Kazakhstan ($X), with a combined 52% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Germany, Ukraine, the United States, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Canada, Austria, Georgia and Armenia, which together accounted for a further 32%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Austria, with a CAGR of +20.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average export price for spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages amounted to $X per litre, shrinking by -2.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a perceptible curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 5.7% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per litre. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Latvia ($X per litre), while the average price for exports to Ukraine ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Latvia (-0.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Imports of Spirits, Liqueurs And Other Spirituous Beverages
Imports into the Russian Federation
After three years of growth, purchases abroad of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages decreased by -12.3% to X litres in 2022. In general, imports recorded a perceptible shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 45%. Imports peaked at X litres in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, imports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages fell to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a perceptible slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 39% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Belarus (X litres) constituted the largest spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages supplier to Russia, with a 30% share of total imports. Moreover, imports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages from Belarus exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Kazakhstan (X litres), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by the UK (X litres), with a 9.1% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Belarus totaled +33.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kazakhstan (+40.0% per year) and the UK (+21.6% per year).
In value terms, Mexico ($X), Germany ($X) and Belarus ($X) appeared to be the largest spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages suppliers to Russia, together accounting for 40% of total imports. The UK, Finland, Belgium, Italy, Sweden, France, Ireland, the Czech Republic, Kazakhstan and Armenia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 48%.
Among the main suppliers, Belgium, with a CAGR of +56.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average import price for spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages amounted to $X per litre, surging by 1.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a mild curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average import price increased by 17%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per litre. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per litre), while the price for Kazakhstan ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+6.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
