As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the market remained at a lower figure.
Textile Wadding Production in the Russian Federation
In value terms, textile wadding production fell to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, enjoyed a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when the production volume increased by 40%. Textile wadding production peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, production failed to regain momentum.

Exports from the Russian Federation
After two years of growth, shipments abroad of wadding of textile materials and articles thereof decreased by -3.8% to X tons in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a noticeable increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +11.3% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 35%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2021, and then reduced modestly in the following year.
In value terms, textile wadding exports reduced to $X in 2022. In general, total exports indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +3.7% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 42% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Kazakhstan (X tons), Belarus (X tons) and Ukraine (X tons) were the main destinations of textile wadding exports from Russia, with a combined 54% share of total exports. Uzbekistan, South Korea, Estonia, Serbia, Poland, Turkey, Romania, Lithuania, Kyrgyzstan and Latvia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 39%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Lithuania (with a CAGR of +51.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X), Uzbekistan ($X) and Ukraine ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for textile wadding exported from Russia worldwide, together comprising 56% of total exports. Belarus, Poland, South Korea, Serbia, Turkey, Estonia, Romania, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania and Latvia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 36%.
Among the main countries of destination, Serbia, with a CAGR of +46.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average textile wadding export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 18% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Estonia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ukraine (+3.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Russian Federation
In 2022, approx. X tons of wadding of textile materials and articles thereof were imported into Russia; with an increase of 1.7% against the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 19% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, textile wadding imports amounted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Uzbekistan (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of textile wadding to Russia, with a 63% share of total imports. Moreover, textile wadding imports from Uzbekistan exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Lithuania (X tons), tenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Hungary (X tons), with a 5.1% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Uzbekistan totaled +14.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Lithuania (+11.8% per year) and Hungary (-5.1% per year).
In value terms, the largest textile wadding suppliers to Russia were Lithuania ($X), Uzbekistan ($X) and Japan ($X), together comprising 58% of total imports. Hungary, Poland, China, Turkey, Belarus, Estonia, Latvia, Armenia, Italy and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 31%.
Latvia, with a CAGR of +177.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average textile wadding import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, increasing by 6.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 15%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($X per ton), while the price for Uzbekistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+8.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
