In value terms, wood fuel exports shrank rapidly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 114%. In value terms, Italy ($X) constituted the largest supplier of wood fuel to Russia, comprising 47% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 5.6% share of total imports. It was followed by Finland, with a 0.2% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Italy totaled -4.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kazakhstan (-27.6% per year) and Finland (-33.8% per year).

The average wood fuel import price stood at $X per cubic meter in 2022, increasing by 72% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price enjoyed strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average import price increased by 175%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per cubic meter. From 2018 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per cubic meter), while the price for Hungary ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
