The Russian x-ray apparatus market shrank to $X in 2022, waning by -4.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption recorded a noticeable setback. X-ray apparatus consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 55%. The exports peaked at X units in 2021, and then shrank remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, x-ray apparatus exports contracted rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 60% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then shrank significantly in the following year.

Ukraine (X units), Kazakhstan (X units) and Kyrgyzstan (X units) were the main destinations of x-ray apparatus exports from Russia, with a combined 74% share of total exports. India, Poland, Iraq, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Denmark, China, Hong Kong SAR and the United Arab Emirates lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 26%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Iraq (with a CAGR of +70.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) remains the key foreign market for x-ray apparatus exports from Russia, comprising 56% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Poland ($X), with a 10% share of total exports. It was followed by India, with a 5.7% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Kazakhstan amounted to +12.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Poland (+38.6% per year) and India (+10.4% per year).

In 2022, the average x-ray apparatus export price amounted to $X per unit, falling by -6.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a pronounced slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 30%. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Ukraine ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was decline in supplies from abroad of x-ray apparatus, when their volume decreased by -2.8% to X units. In general, imports continue to indicate a noticeable setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 79%. Imports peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, x-ray apparatus imports expanded rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a pronounced decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 136% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, South Korea (X units) constituted the largest x-ray apparatus supplier to Russia, accounting for a 34% share of total imports. Moreover, x-ray apparatus imports from South Korea exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (X units), threefold. China (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 7.9% share.
