South Africa represented the largest importing country with an import of about X tons, which resulted at 36% of total imports. Botswana (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 10% share, followed by Namibia (9.4%), Tanzania (8.9%), Mozambique (6.4%), Angola (5.4%) and Lesotho (4.5%). Zambia (X tons) took a minor share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to bedding and furnishing article imports into South Africa stood at -17.1%. At the same time, Lesotho (+23.7%), Tanzania (+9.7%) and Mozambique (+8.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. In value terms, South Africa ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported bedding and furnishing articles (quilts, eiderdowns, cushions, pouffes and pillows) in SADC, comprising 40% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Tanzania ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Namibia, with a 9.6% share.
In South Africa, bedding and furnishing article imports contracted by an average annual rate of -15.5% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Tanzania (+14.6% per year) and Namibia (-19.8% per year).
Import Prices by Country

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Angola ($X per ton), while Botswana ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
