South Africa prevails in exports structure, reaching X units, which was near 87% of total exports in 2022. Botswana (X units), Lesotho (X units) and Mauritius (X units) took a minor share of total exports.

Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, ship derrick buckets and shovels imports contracted to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded a deep setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 61%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

South Africa was the key importer of buckets, shovels, grabs and grips for ships’ derricks and cranes in SADC, with the volume of imports reaching X units, which was approx. 41% of total imports in 2022. Botswana (X units) took a 22% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Tanzania (7.4%), Democratic Republic of the Congo (6%) and Angola (5.1%). The following importers - Zimbabwe (X units) and Zambia (X units) - each accounted for an 8.6% share of total imports.
