South Africa dominates exports structure, accounting for X tons, which was approx. 88% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Namibia (X tons), mixing up a 9.6% share of total exports.

South Africa experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of cylindrical roller bearings. At the same time, Namibia (+24.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Namibia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in SADC, with a CAGR of +24.5% from 2012-2022. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2018; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.

In value terms, cylindrical roller bearing imports expanded rapidly to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

South Africa dominates imports structure, recording X tons, which was near 72% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Tanzania (X tons), constituting a 7.1% share of total imports. Zambia (X tons), Angola (X tons), Democratic Republic of the Congo (X tons), Mozambique (X tons), Swaziland (X tons) and Namibia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to cylindrical roller bearing imports into South Africa stood at -2.0%. At the same time, Democratic Republic of the Congo (+38.7%), Mozambique (+30.9%), Swaziland (+24.9%), Zambia (+9.6%), Tanzania (+4.8%) and Namibia (+1.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Democratic Republic of the Congo emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in SADC, with a CAGR of +38.7% from 2012-2022. Angola experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia and Swaziland increased by +3.5, +2.8, +2.8, +2.5 and +2.1 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

The second position in the ranking was held by Zambia ($X), with a 3.8% share of total imports. It was followed by Democratic Republic of the Congo, with a 3.5% share.

In South Africa, cylindrical roller bearing imports increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Zambia (+11.5% per year) and Democratic Republic of the Congo (+13.6% per year).
