In 2022, the export price in SADC amounted to $X per ton, rising by 3.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the export price increased by 6.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Mozambique ($X per ton), while Angola ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Mozambique represented the key importer of granite (crude) in SADC, with the volume of imports accounting for X tons, which was approx. 80% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by South Africa (X tons), achieving a 20% share of total imports.

Mozambique was also the fastest-growing in terms of the granite (crude) imports, with a CAGR of +123.1% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, South Africa (+21.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Mozambique (+79 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while South Africa saw its share reduced by -55.5% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.

In value terms, Mozambique ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported granite (crude) in SADC, comprising 80% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by South Africa ($X), with a 19% share of total imports.
