From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, hydraulic automatic regulators exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports showed tangible growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 178% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Angola (X units) represented the key exporter of hydraulic or pneumatic automatic regulating instruments, constituting 42% of total exports. In value terms, South Africa ($X) remains the largest hydraulic automatic regulators supplier in SADC, comprising 95% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Mozambique ($X), with a 1.6% share of total exports. It was followed by Angola, with a 1.5% share.

In South Africa, hydraulic automatic regulators exports increased at an average annual rate of +7.2% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Mozambique (+37.5% per year) and Angola (-18.8% per year).

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of hydraulic or pneumatic automatic regulating instruments, when their volume increased by 14% to X units. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, hydraulic automatic regulators imports dropped modestly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Zimbabwe (X units), distantly followed by Democratic Republic of the Congo (X units), Angola (X units), Zambia (X units) and South Africa (X units) were the largest importers of hydraulic or pneumatic automatic regulating instruments, together making up 89% of total imports. The following importers - Tanzania (X units) and Mozambique (X units) - each recorded a 7.9% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Democratic Republic of the Congo (with a CAGR of +40.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, South Africa ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported hydraulic or pneumatic automatic regulating instruments in SADC, comprising 68% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Angola ($X), with an 8.9% share of total imports. It was followed by Democratic Republic of the Congo, with a 7.6% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in South Africa was relatively modest. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Angola (-8.3% per year) and Democratic Republic of the Congo (+24.1% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in SADC amounted to $X per unit, which is down by -14.8% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 88%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2020, and then shrank in the following year.
