From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in South Africa amounted to -3.3%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Angola (+3.5% per year) and Botswana (+46.7% per year).

Moreover, Zimbabwe emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in SADC, with a CAGR of +15.3% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Tanzania (-2.2%) and Botswana (-4.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Angola (+11 p.p.), Zimbabwe (+9.8 p.p.), Zambia (+6.8 p.p.), Tanzania (+3.9 p.p.), Swaziland (+2.9 p.p.) and Botswana (+2.4 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of South Africa (-39.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, South Africa ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported machines for working wire in SADC, comprising 81% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Zimbabwe ($X), with a 9.5% share of total imports. It was followed by Tanzania, with a 3.1% share.
In South Africa, working wire machine imports increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Zimbabwe (+21.0% per year) and Tanzania (+2.8% per year).
