As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, manganites, manganates, molybdates and tungstates imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a slight decrease. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

South Africa prevails in imports structure, amounting to X tons, which was approx. 82% of total imports in 2021. The following importers - Zimbabwe (X tons), Zambia (X tons), Swaziland (X tons), Angola (X tons), Mauritius (X tons) and Lesotho (X tons) - together made up 14% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to manganites, manganates, molybdates and tungstates imports into South Africa stood at +2.3%. At the same time, Swaziland (+54.6%), Lesotho (+13.7%), Zimbabwe (+9.3%), Angola (+3.8%) and Mauritius (+2.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Swaziland emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in SADC, with a CAGR of +54.6% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Zambia (-4.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in South Africa totaled -3.0%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Zambia (+2.4% per year) and Mauritius (+3.3% per year).

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Zambia (+7.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
