Angola (+4.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Namibia ($X) remains the largest marble and travertine blocks supplier in SADC, comprising 95% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Angola ($X), with a 2.7% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Namibia totaled +21.6%.

Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 84% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

South Africa prevails in imports structure, accounting for X tons, which was near 81% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Angola (X tons), comprising a 5.2% share of total imports. Namibia (X tons), Zimbabwe (X tons) and Swaziland (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
South Africa experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of marble and travertine blocks and slabs. At the same time, Swaziland (+33.7%), Namibia (+22.8%) and Zimbabwe (+4.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. In value terms, South Africa ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported marble and travertine blocks and slabs in SADC, comprising 52% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Angola ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Namibia, with an 11% share.
In South Africa, marble and travertine blocks imports increased at an average annual rate of +1.0% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Angola (-22.3% per year) and Namibia (+9.6% per year).
