From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports of remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, exports of machinery for sorting, mixing, agglomerating, shaping or moulding of mined solids expanded sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a pronounced descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 27% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

South Africa was the largest exporter of machinery for sorting, mixing, agglomerating, shaping or moulding of mined solids in SADC, with the volume of exports amounting to X units, which was approx. 69% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Zambia (X units) and Botswana (X units), together creating a 23% share of total exports. Angola (X units) and Tanzania (X units) held a little share of total exports.
South Africa experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of machinery for sorting, mixing, agglomerating, shaping or moulding of mined solids. At the same time, Zambia (+49.2%), Botswana (+18.9%), Tanzania (+10.8%) and Angola (+5.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, South Africa ($X) remains the largest machinery for sorting, mixing, agglomerating, shaping or moulding of mined solids supplier in SADC, comprising 91% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Zambia ($X), with a 2.7% share of total exports. It was followed by Botswana, with a 2% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in South Africa amounted to -3.2%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Zambia (+19.0% per year) and Botswana (+0.9% per year).

The export price in SADC stood at $X per unit in 2022, dropping by -4% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a pronounced decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the export price increased by 2,096%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per unit), while Angola ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Angola (+3.4%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in SADC
Imports of machinery for sorting, mixing, agglomerating, shaping or moulding of mined solids rose notably to X units in 2022, increasing by 7.3% compared with 2021 figures. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of attained the maximum at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, imports of machinery for sorting, mixing, agglomerating, shaping or moulding of mined solids expanded markedly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a perceptible decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 42% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
South Africa represented the key importer of machinery for sorting, mixing, agglomerating, shaping or moulding of mined solids in SADC, with the volume of imports amounting to X units, which was near 37% of total imports in 2022. Zimbabwe (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Tanzania (X units), Botswana (X units) and Democratic Republic of the Congo (X units). All these countries together held approx. 41% share of total imports. The following importers - Namibia (X units), Zambia (X units), Angola (X units), Mozambique (X units), Malawi (X units), Madagascar (X units) and Mauritius (X units) - together made up 21% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to machinery for sorting, mixing, agglomerating, shaping or moulding of mined solids imports into South Africa stood at -10.0%. At the same time, Zimbabwe (+16.2%), Madagascar (+14.5%), Botswana (+7.9%), Democratic Republic of the Congo (+7.9%), Tanzania (+5.5%) and Malawi (+5.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Zimbabwe emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in SADC, with a CAGR of +16.2% from 2012-2022. Namibia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Mauritius (-4.6%), Mozambique (-5.1%), Zambia (-12.2%) and Angola (-19.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Zimbabwe (+11 p.p.), Tanzania (+8.5 p.p.), Botswana (+5.9 p.p.), Democratic Republic of the Congo (+5.1 p.p.), Madagascar (+2.1 p.p.), Malawi (+1.9 p.p.) and Namibia (+1.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Zambia, Angola and South Africa saw its share reduced by -3.5%, -11.6% and -21.8% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Zimbabwe ($X), South Africa ($X) and Democratic Republic of the Congo ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 63% share of total imports.
Zimbabwe, with a CAGR of +13.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in SADC stood at $X per unit in 2022, increasing by 3.2% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 31%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2019 to 2022, the import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Democratic Republic of the Congo ($X per unit), while Botswana ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
