South Africa was also the fastest-growing in terms of the multiple-walled insulating units of glass exports, with a CAGR of +26.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Namibia (+7.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per square meter), while Namibia totaled $X per square meter.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+1.6%).

Tanzania (X square meters), Democratic Republic of the Congo (X square meters) and Swaziland (X square meters) represented roughly 60% of total imports in 2021. Comoros (X square meters) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Madagascar (X square meters) and Angola (X square meters). All these countries together held near 24% share of total imports. Mozambique (X square meters) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Swaziland (with a CAGR of +102.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Among the main importing countries, Swaziland, with a CAGR of +72.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in SADC stood at $X per square meter in 2021, rising by 3.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a mild curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 41%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per square meter in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Angola ($X per square meter), while Comoros ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Angola (+5.7%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
