In value terms, non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified exports dropped to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a notable expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 96% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.
Exports by Country
Madagascar (X tons) and South Africa (X tons) prevails in exports structure, together constituting 92% of total exports. The following exporters - Zambia (X tons) and Lesotho (X tons) - each resulted at a 3.2% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Lesotho (with a CAGR of +79.3%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified supplying countries in SADC were Madagascar ($X), South Africa ($X) and Zambia ($X), with a combined 95% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Lesotho, which accounted for a further 0.8%.
Among the main exporting countries, Lesotho, with a CAGR of +68.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in SADC stood at $X per ton in 2022, declining by -2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 21% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Madagascar ($X per ton), while Lesotho ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, approx. X tons of non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified were imported in SADC; falling by -6.3% on the previous year's figure. Overall, imports, however, posted buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 55% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified imports dropped rapidly to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +20.7% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 48%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then fell rapidly in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, South Africa (X tons), Botswana (X tons), Mozambique (X tons) and Zambia (X tons) represented the largest importer of non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified in SADC, mixing up 84% of total import. It was distantly followed by Namibia (X tons), mixing up a 5.3% share of total imports. The following importers - Mauritius (X tons) and Democratic Republic of the Congo (X tons) - each accounted for a 6.3% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Zambia (with a CAGR of +22.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified importing markets in SADC were South Africa ($X), Mozambique ($X) and Botswana ($X), together comprising 64% of total imports.
Mozambique, with a CAGR of +16.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in SADC amounted to $X per ton, falling by -12.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 27% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mauritius ($X per ton), while Zambia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mozambique (+3.5%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
