Over the period under review, imports saw a moderate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 415% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, non-electric industrial furnace imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a mild setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 289% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Tanzania was the main importing country with an import of about X units, which accounted for 54% of total imports. South Africa (X units) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Zambia (X units). All these countries together held approx. 36% share of total imports. The following importers - Zimbabwe (X units), Democratic Republic of the Congo (X units) and Angola (X units) - each amounted to a 6.3% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Tanzania (with a CAGR of +26.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, South Africa ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported non-electric industrial or laboratory furnaces and ovens in SADC, comprising 56% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Tanzania ($X), with a 26% share of total imports. It was followed by Zambia, with a 5.8% share.
