Imports into South Africa decreased at an average annual rate of -12.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Madagascar (+8.9%), Mauritius (+7.2%), Tanzania (+5.5%) and Namibia (+2.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Madagascar emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in SADC, with a CAGR of +8.9% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Angola (-21.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Mauritius, Tanzania, Namibia and Madagascar increased by +7.6, +5.1, +1.7 and +1.6 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, South Africa ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported non-upholstered seats with metal frames in SADC, comprising 61% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Mauritius ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Tanzania, with an 8.5% share.
