In value terms, oil crops exports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of X%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

The biggest shipments were from South Africa (X tons), Tanzania (X tons) and Mozambique (X tons), together amounting to X% of total export. It was distantly followed by Malawi (X tons), constituting an X% share of total exports. Zambia (X tons) held a little share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Mozambique (with a CAGR of X%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas purchases of oil crops (primary) decreased by X% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate mild growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, oil crops imports declined to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted perceptible growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Mozambique (X tons), South Africa (X tons) and Zimbabwe (X tons) represented roughly X% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Tanzania (X tons), making up a X% share of total imports. The following importers - Lesotho (X tons) and Botswana (X tons) - each finished at a X% share of total imports.
