Exports by Country
South Africa represented the largest exporter of organic derivatives of hydrazine or of hydroxylamine in SADC, with the volume of exports accounting for X tons, which was approx. 76% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Swaziland (X tons), making up an 18% share of total exports. Mauritius (X tons) and Tanzania (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from South Africa decreased at an average annual rate of -17.8% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Tanzania (+25.8%), Mauritius (+11.1%) and Swaziland (+10.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Tanzania emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in SADC, with a CAGR of +25.8% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Swaziland, Mauritius and Tanzania increased by +17, +4 and +2.1 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, Swaziland ($X), South Africa ($X) and Mauritius ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together accounting for 100% of total exports. These countries were followed by Tanzania, which accounted for a further 0.5%.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Tanzania, with a CAGR of +15.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in SADC amounted to $X per ton, falling by -2.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a pronounced setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 64% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Swaziland ($X per ton), while Tanzania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Swaziland (+4.4%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.
Imports of Organic Derivatives Of Hydrazine Or Of Hydroxylamine
Imports in SADC
For the fourth year in a row, SADC recorded growth in overseas purchases of organic derivatives of hydrazine or of hydroxylamine, which increased by 2.4% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 96% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
In value terms, hydrazine and hydroxylamine derivatives imports expanded notably to $X in 2022. In general, imports saw a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 94% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
Democratic Republic of the Congo was the main importer of organic derivatives of hydrazine or of hydroxylamine in SADC, with the volume of imports resulting at X tons, which was near 65% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by South Africa (X tons), achieving a 31% share of total imports.
Democratic Republic of the Congo was also the fastest-growing in terms of the organic derivatives of hydrazine or of hydroxylamine imports, with a CAGR of +15.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, South Africa (+9.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Democratic Republic of the Congo increased by +15 percentage points.
In value terms, Democratic Republic of the Congo ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported organic derivatives of hydrazine or of hydroxylamine in SADC, comprising 73% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by South Africa ($X), with a 25% share of total imports.
