Aromatic Monoamines Market Size in SADC

The SADC aromatic monoamines market was estimated at $X in 2021, approximately mirroring the previous year. Overall, consumption, however, continues to indicate a perceptible curtailment. Exports in SADC

After three years of decline, shipments abroad of other aromatic monoamines and their derivatives, salts thereof increased by 215% to X tons in 2021. Overall, exports, however, showed a perceptible decrease. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, aromatic monoamines exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a deep setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when exports increased by 170% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

South Africa prevails in exports structure, finishing at X tons, which was near 97% of total exports in 2021. Madagascar (X kg) took a minor share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to aromatic monoamines exports from South Africa stood at -2.1%. Madagascar experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Madagascar increased by +1.7 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, South Africa ($X) remains the largest aromatic monoamines supplier in SADC, comprising 96% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Madagascar ($X), with a 3.1% share of total exports.

In South Africa, aromatic monoamines exports shrank by an average annual rate of -7.3% over the period from 2012-2021.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in SADC amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -63% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 81% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Madagascar ($X per ton), while South Africa stood at $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (-5.4%).

Imports in SADC

In 2021, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of other aromatic monoamines and their derivatives, salts thereof, when their volume decreased by -7.9% to X tons. In general, imports continue to indicate a abrupt setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 28%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, aromatic monoamines imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a pronounced curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

South Africa prevails in imports structure, resulting at X tons, which was approx. 84% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Zimbabwe (X tons), committing a 9.6% share of total imports. The following importers - Democratic Republic of the Congo (X tons) and Namibia (X tons) - together made up 4.4% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to aromatic monoamines imports into South Africa stood at -10.0%. At the same time, Namibia (+11.1%) and Democratic Republic of the Congo (+2.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Namibia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in SADC, with a CAGR of +11.1% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Zimbabwe (-18.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. South Africa (+8.8 p.p.), Democratic Republic of the Congo (+1.9 p.p.) and Namibia (+1.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Zimbabwe saw its share reduced by -12.3% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, South Africa ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported other aromatic monoamines and their derivatives, salts thereof in SADC, comprising 66% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Zimbabwe ($X), with a 30% share of total imports. It was followed by Democratic Republic of the Congo, with a 1.2% share.

In South Africa, aromatic monoamines imports contracted by an average annual rate of -5.1% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Zimbabwe (-3.2% per year) and Democratic Republic of the Congo (+3.5% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in SADC stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 28% against the previous year. Import price indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +7.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 31% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Zimbabwe ($X per ton), while Democratic Republic of the Congo ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Zimbabwe (+19.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
