In 2021, after four years of decline, there was significant growth in the SADC prepared rubber accelerators market, when its value increased by 6.1% to $X. The total consumption indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, the market reached the maximum level at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, prepared rubber accelerators exports shrank rapidly to $X in 2021. In general, exports showed a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 94%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The shipments of the one major exporters of prepared rubber accelerators, namely South Africa, represented more than two-thirds of total export.

South Africa was also the fastest-growing in terms of the prepared rubber accelerators exports, with a CAGR of -8.2% from 2012 to 2021. While the share of South Africa (+34 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, South Africa ($X) also remains the largest prepared rubber accelerators supplier in SADC.

In South Africa, prepared rubber accelerators exports declined by an average annual rate of -4.9% over the period from 2012-2021.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in SADC amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 52% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a noticeable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the export price increased by 84%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for South Africa.

From 2012 to 2021, the rate of growth in terms of prices for South Africa amounted to +3.7% per year.

Imports in SADC

In 2021, purchases abroad of prepared rubber accelerators increased by 50% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, prepared rubber accelerators imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

South Africa dominates imports structure, finishing at X tons, which was approx. 95% of total imports in 2021. The following importers - Tanzania (X tons) and Zimbabwe (X tons) - each accounted for a 3.8% share of total imports.

Imports into South Africa increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Zimbabwe (+25.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Zimbabwe emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in SADC, with a CAGR of +25.9% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Tanzania (-2.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The shares of the largest importers remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, South Africa ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported prepared rubber accelerators in SADC, comprising 96% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Zimbabwe ($X), with a 1.3% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in South Africa totaled +3.2%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Zimbabwe (+18.2% per year) and Tanzania (+0.6% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in SADC amounted to $X per ton, rising by 6.4% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 24% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per ton), while Tanzania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Tanzania (+2.9%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
