Loudspeaker Market Size in SADC

In 2021, after four years of growth, there was significant decline in the SADC loudspeaker market, when its value decreased by -12.8% to $X. The total consumption indicated a pronounced expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. In value terms, loudspeaker exports rose significantly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 47% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, South Africa (X units) and Botswana (X units) represented the key exporter of single loudspeakers (in enclosure) in SADC, generating 98% of total export.

Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, loudspeaker imports surged to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -32.6% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 40%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, South Africa (X units) represented the key importer of single loudspeakers (in enclosure), achieving 40% of total imports. Namibia (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 23% share, followed by Angola (8.3%) and Lesotho (6.8%). Democratic Republic of the Congo (X units), Seychelles (X units), Tanzania (X units), Zimbabwe (X units), Swaziland (X units) and Mozambique (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Lesotho (with a CAGR of +40.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, South Africa ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported single loudspeakers (in enclosure) in SADC, comprising 67% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Angola ($X), with a 7.9% share of total imports. It was followed by Namibia, with a 5.7% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in South Africa totaled +2.1%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Angola (-6.3% per year) and Namibia (+28.3% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in SADC stood at $X per unit in 2021, declining by -7% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the import price increased by 45% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit, and then declined in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per unit), while Lesotho ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
