In value terms, spirits and liqueurs exports rose markedly to $X in 2022. In general, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

South Africa represented the largest exporter of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages in SADC, with the volume of exports reaching X litres, which was near X% of total exports in 2022. Angola (X litres) held an X% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Tanzania (X%), Mauritius (X%) and Swaziland (X%). Democratic Republic of the Congo (X litres) and Zambia (X litres) held a minor share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to spirits and liqueurs exports from South Africa stood at X%. At the same time, Democratic Republic of the Congo (X%), Swaziland (X%), Mauritius (X%), Tanzania (X%) and Angola (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. In 2022, imports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages in SADC skyrocketed to X litres, increasing by X% on the year before. In general, imports, however, showed a abrupt shrinkage. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X litres in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, spirits and liqueurs imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a mild downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by X% against the previous year.
