From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, swivel seat exports fell markedly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 92%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then declined remarkably in the following year.

The biggest shipments were from South Africa (X units), together amounting to 100% of total export.

South Africa was also the fastest-growing in terms of the swivel seats with variable height adjustments exports, with a CAGR of +6.3% from 2012 to 2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of South Africa increased by +3.5 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, South Africa ($X) also remains the largest swivel seat supplier in SADC.

In 2022, the export price in SADC amounted to $X per unit, waning by -7.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a deep reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the export price increased by 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for South Africa.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for South Africa amounted to -5.5% per year.

In 2022, approx. X units of swivel seats with variable height adjustments were imported in SADC; waning by -21.2% against the year before. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 76%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, swivel seat imports fell dramatically to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 65%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then reduced remarkably in the following year.

Imports by Country

South Africa was the key importer of swivel seats with variable height adjustments in SADC, with the volume of imports reaching X units, which was approx. 54% of total imports in 2022. Tanzania (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with an 18% share, followed by Angola (5.1%) and Mauritius (5%). Mozambique (X units), Madagascar (X units) and Namibia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to swivel seat imports into South Africa stood at -4.3%. At the same time, Tanzania (+18.8%), Madagascar (+16.6%), Mozambique (+16.4%) and Namibia (+1.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Tanzania emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in SADC, with a CAGR of +18.8% from 2012-2022. Mauritius experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Angola (-2.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Tanzania, Mozambique and Madagascar increased by +15, +2.8 and +2.2 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, South Africa ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported swivel seats with variable height adjustments in SADC, comprising 46% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Tanzania ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Angola, with an 8% share.

In South Africa, swivel seat imports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Tanzania (+13.2% per year) and Angola (-10.0% per year).

The import price in SADC stood at $X per unit in 2022, growing by 1.6% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 28%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Namibia ($X per unit), while Madagascar ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+4.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
