While the share of Democratic Republic of the Congo (+4.9 p.p.) and Zambia (+2.2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of South Africa (-7.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, South Africa ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported triethanolamine and its salts in SADC, comprising 88% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Democratic Republic of the Congo ($X), with a 5.1% share of total imports.

In South Africa, triethanolamine imports shrank by an average annual rate of -15.5% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Democratic Republic of the Congo (+2.5% per year) and Zambia (+16.6% per year).
