Malawi (X units), Mozambique (X units) and Angola (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from South Africa decreased at an average annual rate of -21.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Democratic Republic of the Congo (+34.2%), Zambia (+30.7%) and Mozambique (+8.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Democratic Republic of the Congo emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in SADC, with a CAGR of +34.2% from 2012-2021. Malawi experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Angola (-11.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Democratic Republic of the Congo (+19 p.p.), Zambia (+8.6 p.p.), Malawi (+3.2 p.p.) and Mozambique (+2.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while South Africa saw its share reduced by -34% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest truck crane supplying countries in SADC were South Africa ($X), Democratic Republic of the Congo ($X) and Zambia ($X), with a combined 90% share of total exports.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Democratic Republic of the Congo, with a CAGR of +43.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the export price in SADC amounted to $X per unit, waning by -4.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, posted prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 142% against the previous year. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, South Africa ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported truck cranes in SADC, comprising 34% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Tanzania ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Democratic Republic of the Congo, with a 13% share.

In South Africa, truck crane imports contracted by an average annual rate of -16.3% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Tanzania (+4.6% per year) and Democratic Republic of the Congo (-7.7% per year).

In 2021, the import price in SADC amounted to $X per unit, picking up by 7.1% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a abrupt decline. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
