Camel Meat Market Size in Saudi Arabia

The Saudi camel meat market fell to $X in 2022, waning by -4.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption, however, recorded strong growth. Over the period under review, the market attained the maximum level at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 1,835%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, camel meat exports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a perceptible decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 1,217%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Oman (X tons) was the main destination for camel meat exports from Saudi Arabia, with a approx. 100% share of total exports.

From 2013 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Oman totaled -4.0%.

In value terms, Oman ($X) also remains the key foreign market for camel meat exports from Saudi Arabia.

From 2013 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Oman amounted to -10.3%.

Export Prices by Country

The average camel meat export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of 21% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a slight increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the average export price increased by 79%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2021 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Oman.

From 2013 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Bahrain amounted to +22.7% per year.

Pakistan (X tons), India (X tons) and Ethiopia (X tons) were the main suppliers of camel meat imports to Saudi Arabia, with a combined 99% share of total imports.

From 2013 to 2019, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Pakistan (with a CAGR of +15.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, India ($X), Pakistan ($X) and Ethiopia ($X) constituted the largest camel meat suppliers to Saudi Arabia, together accounting for 99% of total imports.

Among the main suppliers, Pakistan, with a CAGR of +21.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
