As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Jordan (X tons), Sudan (X tons) and Yemen (X tons) were the main destinations of sesame seed exports from Saudi Arabia, with a combined 82% share of total exports. Oman, Bahrain and Kuwait lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 18%.

Over the period under review, total imports indicated mild growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -35.8% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 51% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, sesame seed imports stood at $X in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -38.6% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 61% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. In 2022, Sudan (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of sesame seed to Saudi Arabia, with a 77% share of total imports. From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Sudan totaled +4.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (+2.2% per year) and Brazil (-1.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average sesame seed import price amounted to $X per ton, remaining constant against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the average import price increased by 33%.
