The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 78%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, pasta and couscous exports amounted to $X in 2022. In general, exports posted perceptible growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 89%. Exports by Country
Oman (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Kuwait (X tons) were the main destinations of pasta and couscous exports from Saudi Arabia, with a combined 77% share of total exports. Bahrain, Jordan, Iraq and Sudan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 21%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Sudan (with a CAGR of +121.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Oman ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Kuwait ($X) constituted the largest markets for pasta and couscous exported from Saudi Arabia worldwide, with a combined 64% share of total exports. The average pasta and couscous export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, dropping by -2.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 13% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Jordan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Oman ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sudan (+14.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Saudi Arabia
In 2022, supplies from abroad of stuffed pasta and couscous was finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. In general, imports, however, showed a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 19% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, pasta and couscous imports fell modestly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a drastic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
South Korea (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons) were the main suppliers of pasta and couscous imports to Saudi Arabia, together comprising 65% of total imports. New Zealand, the Philippines, Jordan and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 23%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by New Zealand (with a CAGR of +47.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, South Korea ($X) constituted the largest supplier of stuffed pasta and couscous to Saudi Arabia, comprising 43% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 20% share of total imports. It was followed by Malaysia, with a 9.2% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from South Korea amounted to +33.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United Arab Emirates (-18.9% per year) and Malaysia (+23.2% per year).

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($X per ton), while the price for New Zealand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
