In value terms, candy, sweets, and nonchocolate confectionery exports rose modestly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -1.6% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 37% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. Yemen (X tons) was the main destination for candy, sweets, and nonchocolate confectionery exports from Saudi Arabia, accounting for a 52% share of total exports. Moreover, candy, sweets, and nonchocolate confectionery exports to Yemen exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United Arab Emirates (X tons), sixfold. Iraq (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 7.9% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Yemen amounted to +4.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United Arab Emirates (-1.9% per year) and Iraq (-3.7% per year).
In value terms, Yemen ($X) remains the key foreign market for candies, sweets, and nonchocolate confectionery exports from Saudi Arabia, comprising 38% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by Iraq, with a 7.9% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Yemen stood at +8.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United Arab Emirates (-1.5% per year) and Iraq (+9.9% per year).

The average export price for candies, sweets, and nonchocolate confectionery stood at $X per ton in 2022, waning by -2.7% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 11%. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -21.8% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 29%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, candy, sweets, and nonchocolate confectionery imports expanded markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports posted a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Turkey (X tons), Bahrain (X tons) and Poland (X tons) were the main suppliers of candy, sweets, and nonchocolate confectionery imports to Saudi Arabia, together accounting for 34% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Bahrain (with a CAGR of +31.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest candy, sweets, and nonchocolate confectionery suppliers to Saudi Arabia were Turkey ($X), Poland ($X) and Jordan ($X), together comprising 30% of total imports. Egypt, China, Germany, Italy, Bahrain, the Czech Republic, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Thailand and Syrian Arab Republic lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 40%.

In 2022, the average import price for candies, sweets, and nonchocolate confectionery amounted to $X per ton, remaining constant against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.0%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 18% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2021 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while the price for Bahrain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
