After two years of growth, overseas shipments of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages decreased by -23.9% to X litres in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 1,099% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X litres. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports of failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, exports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages reduced notably to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a moderate increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 531% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports of remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Egypt (X litres) was the main destination for exports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages from Saudi Arabia, with a 52% share of total exports. Moreover, exports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages to Egypt exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Belgium (X litres), fourfold.

In 2022, imports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages into Saudi Arabia soared to X litres, rising by 2,000% against 2021 figures. Overall, imports, however, saw a mild decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 4,353% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X litres. From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Germany was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the UK (0.0% per year) and France (-99.7% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average import price for spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages amounted to $X per litre, falling by -96.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price faced a precipitous decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average import price increased by 20%.
