In value terms, Bahrain ($X) remains the key foreign market for walnut exports from Saudi Arabia, comprising 92% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Yemen ($X), with a 7.9% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Bahrain stood at -9.4%.
Export Prices by Country
The average walnut export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 1.5% against the previous year. Overall, the export price enjoyed a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 185% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2021, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Yemen ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Bahrain amounted to $X per ton.

In 2020, approx. X tons of walnuts were imported into Saudi Arabia; picking up by 4.5% on the previous year's figure. Overall, imports recorded strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 77%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, walnut imports reduced modestly to $X in 2020. In general, imports showed a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 69%. In 2020, the United States (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of walnut to Saudi Arabia, accounting for a 65% share of total imports. Moreover, walnut imports from the United States exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Chile (X tons), fourfold.
