Total exports indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +87.2% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 34%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then reduced in the following year.

Finland was also the fastest-growing in terms of the articles of asbestos-cement, cellulose fiber-cement or the like exports, with a CAGR of +5.7% from 2012 to 2022. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Finland ($X) also remains the largest articles of fiber cement supplier in Scandinavia.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by +0.5% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 49%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, articles of fiber cement imports dropped to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 38% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Sweden (X tons) represented the major importer of articles of asbestos-cement, cellulose fiber-cement or the like, making up 63% of total imports. Norway (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Finland (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 37% share of total imports.

Imports into Sweden increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Finland (+14.8%) and Norway (+14.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. In Sweden, articles of fiber cement imports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Norway (+13.6% per year) and Finland (+17.0% per year).

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Finland ($X per ton), while Sweden ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Finland (+1.9%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
