Cow peas imports skyrocketed to X tons in 2022, increasing by 31% against 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 75% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, cow peas imports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a mild decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 46%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, Sweden (X tons) represented the main importer of cow peas (dry), creating 73% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Norway (X tons), committing a 23% share of total imports. Finland (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Sweden was also the fastest-growing in terms of the cow peas (dry) imports, with a CAGR of +10.1% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Finland (+6.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 21% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Finland ($X per ton), while Sweden ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
