Capacitor Market Size in Scandinavia

The Scandinavia capacitor market was finally on the rise to reach $X in 2021, after two years of decline. In general, consumption, however, recorded a noticeable setback. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, capacitor production rose sharply to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. In general, production, however, continues to indicate a deep reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the production volume increased by 11% against the previous year. The level of production peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, production failed to regain momentum.

For the seventh consecutive year, Scandinavia recorded decline in shipments abroad of electrical capacitors, which decreased by -24.6% to X tons in 2021. Overall, exports showed a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 27%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, capacitor exports totaled $X in 2021. In general, exports saw a deep reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Finland (X tons) and Sweden (X tons) were the largest exporters of electrical capacitors in 2021, finishing at approx. 46% and 38% of total exports, respectively. It was distantly followed by Denmark (X tons), making up a 14% share of total exports. Norway (X tons) held a little share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Norway (with a CAGR of -4.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.

In value terms, the largest capacitor supplying countries in Scandinavia were Finland ($X), Denmark ($X) and Sweden ($X), with a combined 97% share of total exports.

Denmark, with a CAGR of +7.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Scandinavia stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 39% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the export price increased by 56%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($X per ton), while Sweden ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Denmark (+12.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Scandinavia

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of electrical capacitors, when their volume increased by 17% to X tons. In general, imports, however, showed a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 25%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, capacitor imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a pronounced curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 32%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

The countries with the highest levels of capacitor imports in 2021 were Finland (X tons), Denmark (X tons) and Sweden (X tons), together reaching 97% of total import. Norway (X tons) held a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Finland (with a CAGR of +1.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.

In value terms, Finland ($X), Sweden ($X) and Denmark ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 91% share of total imports.

Among the main importing countries, Denmark, with a CAGR of +2.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Scandinavia stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 6.2% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.0%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 20% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Norway ($X per ton), while Denmark ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
