Sweden dominates exports structure, resulting at X tons, which was near 88% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Norway (X tons) and Finland (X tons), together creating a 12% share of total exports.

Exports from Sweden decreased at an average annual rate of -5.0% from 2012 to 2022. Finland (-2.7%) and Norway (-18.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Sweden (+17 p.p.) and Finland (+1.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Norway (-18.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Sweden ($X) remains the largest festive articles supplier in Scandinavia, comprising 85% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Norway ($X), with a 9.8% share of total exports.

In Sweden, festive articles exports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Norway (-15.5% per year) and Finland (-7.6% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Scandinavia amounted to $X per ton, growing by 5.5% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.8%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 24%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 20% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.

In value terms, festive articles imports soared to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +77.5% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 43%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Sweden (X tons) represented the main importer of festive or carnival articles, mixing up 61% of total imports. Norway (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Finland (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 39% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Sweden (with a CAGR of +3.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.
