The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 225% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Sweden dominates exports structure, finishing at X tons, which was near 98% of total exports in 2022. Finland (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Sweden was also the fastest-growing in terms of the filter blocks, slabs and plates of paper pulp exports, with a CAGR of +5.7% from 2012 to 2022. Finland (-24.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Sweden (+31 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Finland (-27.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, filter block imports declined slightly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a mild expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 40%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2021, and then declined in the following year.

Sweden was the major importer of filter blocks, slabs and plates of paper pulp in Scandinavia, with the volume of imports finishing at X tons, which was near 55% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Finland (X tons) and Norway (X tons), together committing a 45% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to filter block imports into Sweden stood at -6.3%. At the same time, Norway (+6.7%) and Finland (+1.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Import price indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, filter block import price decreased by -15.5% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the import price increased by 22%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Norway ($X per ton), while Sweden ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Finland (+4.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
